TBLI Europe 2007

What should have been a major disaster, due to the transport strike in Paris, turned out to be our best conference ever. We had a very large turnout, few cancellations, event speakers that had to fight 4 hour taxi rides from the airport, still got there just in time. I am extremely grateful to all those that made the extra effort to come, learn and network. TBLI Conference Europe 2007 was our biggest and best event until now. The financial herd is going through fundamental changes. I want to personally thank all the speakers, moderators, sponsors, registered guests, and staff. In addition, my personal congratulations to the winners of the ESG Leaders Awards:

  • Best ESG investor was the UK Environment Agency Pension Fund for its Euros 2.15 bn ESG overlay strategy, which since its inception in 2005 has produced above benchmark performance.
  • Best Asset Manager Investing in ESG was F&C Asset Management
  • Best Innovative Development went to Goldman Sachs won the award for its Environmental Policy Framework.
  • Best research company went to Innovest Strategic Value Advisors.
  • Outstanding Contribution to ESG went to KLD Research & Analytics
  • The whole issue of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) issues are being seen as part of a professional manner in asset allocation. Sustainable portfolio management(public equity, private equity, fixed income, real estate, carbon finance, microfinance, etc.) is being looked at more seriously, and some financial institutions are seeing that there are professional investment grade products available. The progress being made now in ESG investing is quite staggering. The train has definitely left the station and starting to pick up speed. Those that took their seats a while ago are in a better position to profit from this development. Below is an impression of the TBLI Conference Europe, held on November 15-16, 2007, in Paris. I hope to greet you in Bangkok for TBLI Conference Asia on May 29-30. If you would like to support TBLI Asia with sponsorship and/or presentation, please contact Frank Stevens at TBLI 2008 Support
